About these terms
These Terms and Conditions are between you and Maaya Labs LLC, a one-person studio based in California, United States (“we,” “us,” or “our”). They cover your use of Tappio’s mobile apps, desktop companion software, website, and related features (together, “Tappio”).
By downloading, installing, or using Tappio, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Tappio. You must be legally able to enter into this agreement or have a parent or legal guardian agree on your behalf. If you use Tappio for an organization, you must have authority to accept these terms for it.
Your mandatory consumer rights still apply. Nothing here removes rights or remedies that the law does not allow us to limit, including rights concerning faulty digital content, refunds, or access to local courts.
Your right to use Tappio
We give you a limited, non-exclusive license to install and use Tappio on compatible devices you own or are authorized to use, for lawful personal or internal business purposes, while you comply with these terms and any applicable purchase conditions. We retain ownership of Tappio and its branding; you retain rights to your own content.
You may not sell, sublicense, or redistribute Tappio, remove ownership notices, bypass paid-feature restrictions, or copy or modify it except as these terms, applicable law, or a relevant open-source license permit. Restrictions on reverse engineering do not apply where the law permits it, including applicable interoperability rights.
For an app obtained through Apple’s App Store, the Apple Standard End User License Agreement governs the app license unless a custom license is supplied through the store. These terms supplement that license for Tappio’s service and website; they do not replace it. If they conflict on the App Store app license, the applicable store license controls. Use is also subject to Apple’s applicable usage rules, including Family Sharing where available.
Devices, networks, and permissions
Tappio turns a supported phone or tablet into a remote control for a computer running a compatible Tappio companion. You are responsible for supplying compatible devices, a working network, and the permissions required for the features you use. Your network or internet provider may charge its normal fees.
Local remote-control features require your devices to communicate over your network. Firewalls, guest Wi-Fi, device isolation, operating-system restrictions, and unsupported applications can limit functionality. Features vary across platforms and versions; check the current product information before buying.
You may need to grant Local Network, Accessibility, Automation, camera, or other permissions for particular features. You can revoke permissions in your system settings, but the corresponding feature may stop working. Tappio does not provide an emergency or safety-critical control service.
Responsible use
Only control devices you own or have permission to control. Protect your phone, computer, pairing codes, and saved trust relationships. Do not give someone access unless you intend to let them operate the paired computer.
You must not use Tappio to gain unauthorized access, monitor someone without permission, steal information, distribute malware, harass others, damage devices, or interfere with networks. Do not defeat security protections or use the software in violation of applicable law, including export restrictions.
Remote commands can have real effects. Closing an app, changing clipboard contents, putting a computer to sleep, or shutting it down can interrupt work or lose unsaved changes. Review what you send, keep appropriate backups, and use additional care when controlling a shared computer.
You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed for content you copy, share, or use as a wallpaper. Tappio does not grant rights to content or services owned by someone else.
Paid features and subscriptions
Tappio may offer free features, subscriptions, and a one-time purchase. The purchase screen shows the plan, price, currency, billing period, trial conditions, and included features available to you. Those purchase details form part of your agreement. Taxes and pricing can vary by region.
Apple handles App Store billing
App Store purchases are billed by Apple to your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel in accordance with the terms shown by Apple. If a trial is offered, it may convert to a paid subscription unless canceled before the stated deadline. Eligibility and any special offer are determined by the offer and store rules.
You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account’s subscription settings. Deleting Tappio does not cancel a subscription. See Apple’s cancellation instructions. Access after cancellation follows the purchase terms and applicable law.
Refunds, restores, and one-time purchases
To request an App Store refund, use Apple’s refund process. Eligibility depends on Apple’s rules and applicable law. These terms do not make every purchase non-refundable or limit a refund or other remedy the law gives you.
Use Tappio’s restore option with the Apple Account used for your purchase to restore eligible access. Family Sharing applies only to eligible purchases and according to Apple’s rules. A purchase on one store or platform does not include other paid products unless the offer says so.
A “lifetime” or one-time purchase has no recurring subscription fee for the paid features included in that offer. It does not guarantee that Tappio, every future product, every new paid feature, or every operating-system version will be supported forever. This does not reduce what we promised at purchase or your statutory rights if paid functionality is withdrawn.
We may change prices or offers prospectively. Any change affecting an existing subscription is subject to the store’s notice and consent requirements and applicable law.
Privacy and optional reporting
Our Privacy Policy explains local device data, optional analytics and diagnostics, purchases, and website traffic. Optional reporting is controlled separately from this agreement. Accepting these terms does not consent to optional analytics or crash reporting.
You can decline or withdraw optional reporting without losing your remote-control features. Device permissions are also separate from reporting choices.
Updates and availability
We may provide updates to fix problems, improve security, or change features. Some features require compatible versions of both the mobile app and desktop companion. Install relevant updates and review current system requirements.
The Mac companion can check for updates through our release service using Sparkle; automatic checks are enabled by default. App Store updates follow your Apple settings. The Privacy Policy explains update-related network requests.
We cannot promise uninterrupted operation or compatibility with every device, network, browser, media app, or future operating system. We may change or discontinue features, with reasonable notice where practical and any notice, continued access, refund, or other remedy required by law or the purchase terms.
Third-party software and services
Tappio works with operating systems, app stores, networks, and other applications that we do not control. Your use of those products may be subject to their own terms. Linking to a service or letting you control an app does not mean we endorse it or can guarantee its availability.
Open-source components included in Tappio remain subject to their own licenses and notices. Those licenses control where they grant rights beyond these terms.
Ending your use
You can stop using Tappio at any time. To stop a trusted device from controlling your computer, remove its pairing or trust entry, revoke relevant permissions, or stop the desktop companion. Uninstall software you no longer wish to use and separately cancel any active subscription.
We may terminate the rights granted by these terms for a material breach, such as unauthorized access or deliberate abuse. Where reasonable, we will give notice and an opportunity to fix the breach; immediate action may be necessary to address serious harm or a legal requirement.
Termination does not remove accrued payment obligations, privacy rights, statutory remedies, or provisions that are intended to continue, including ownership and dispute provisions. App Store license termination is governed by the applicable store license.
Warranties and responsibility
We aim to provide a useful, reliable app. Except for express commitments we make and warranties the law requires, Tappio is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or business opportunities arising from your use of Tappio. For consumers, this exclusion does not apply to reasonably foreseeable losses caused by our failure to meet our legal obligations.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Any separate limits in the applicable App Store license are subject to the same mandatory legal protections.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by California law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules, except where applicable mandatory law provides otherwise. If you are a consumer, you keep the mandatory protections of the law of your place of residence and any right to bring a claim in your local courts.
If something goes wrong, contact support@tappioapp.com so we can try to resolve it. Contacting us is not a condition of exercising a legal right or meeting a filing deadline. These terms do not require mandatory arbitration or waive your right to participate in a class action. Disputes may be brought in a court with lawful jurisdiction.
Changes and other terms
We may update these terms and will show the revised date here. We will provide notice of material changes when required by law, and obtain agreement where required. Changes do not retroactively remove rights you have already earned or remedies for an existing dispute.
If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. These terms, the applicable purchase details, and any applicable software license form the agreement for their respective subject matter.
These terms are currently provided in English. Visitors using another website language are directed to this English version.
